Altered Artist Purpose The Altered Artist studio is a place where artists, writers, and creatives can share support, ideas and resources to impact their own lives, society, culture, or community in positive ways through their art. Its philosophy is based on the belief that art belongs to everyone and that the art experience- the creating, the showing and the enjoying- belongs to everyone; not just the moneyed, the professionals, and cognoscenti. It was created by an artist for other artists of a like mind who create art outside the lines of fine art "system" and tradition (schools, galleries, museums, etc), providing good, services and support for creative spirits who produce art, from the depths of their own personalities and for themselves and no one else, works of outstanding originality in concept, and subject, making up their own techniques, often with new means and inventive materials. Creating their works for their own use, as a kind of private theatre, they choose subjects which are often enigmatic and often they do not care about the good opinion of others, at times even keeping their work secret.
